World Top Class Low-Level Fuel Consumption Hybrid Transtainer Delivered
Hybrid Transtainer

Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (MES) has recently handed over eleven (11) units of Mitsui-Paceco Hybrid Transtainer to Port of Tanjung Pelepas in Malaysia.

The Mitsui-Paceco Hybrid Transtainer has a diesel engine of variable engine speed type depending on the load. In addition, the capacitors on the crane will charge energy generated at the time of lowering load and those charged energy can be used for the hoisting of load, which help container terminals aggressively promoting its business activities in eco-friendly manners to control global warming and to reduce environmental burdens.

The newly delivered Hybrid Transtainer will contribute to decrease a lot of fuel consumption, pollutant gas emission and noise at the world highest level. The cranes to Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas are equipped with Twin-20ft spreaders to increase the container handling efficiency.

MES has developed the above Hybrid system by their own and already delivered same type of cranes to Japanese domestic ports such as Tokyo, Nagoya and Hakata port.

MES, since its first delivery of Transtainer to Kobe Port, Japan in 1968, has already delivered nearly 1,000 units of Transtainer to Japan and all over the world.

Following high performance has been achieved by adopting an EVSC (Engine Variable Speed Control) developed by MES and an energy recovery system during container lowering, which have never been realized before.

① Highest ever fuel saving by 50% (max.) and reduction of CO2 emission by 50%
② Dramatic reduction of engine noise level
