MES concluded EPC contract for low density polyethylene for Sasol North America, Inc
Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co., Ltd (MES) announced today that MES, in collaboration with its Louisiana based subsidiary Engineers and Constructors International, Inc., has been awarded a contract from Sasol to carry out the detail engineering, procurement and construction support services for the high pressure portion of a 420,000 t/y low density polyethylene (LDPE) plant which is a part of Sasol’s petrochemical complex being developed in Lake Charles, Louisiana. MES has recently completed the Front End Engineering Design (FEED) services for this plant which was awarded in 2013.
Sasol’s new petrochemical complex entails a world-scale ethane cracker and downstream derivatives including the LDPE plant.
This award is expected to further strengthen MES’ position as one of the leading engineering contractor for LDPE plants and also serve as a cornerstone for the continuing success of its business in the U.S. market.
