MITSUI E&S Group Completes Factory Acceptance Test of Japan's First WinGD Methanol Dual-Fuel Engine -Completion of the First WinGD Engine at the Tamano Works-

August 3, 2026

MITSUI E&S Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Takeyuki Takahashi; hereinafter, "MITSUI E&S") announces that Mitsui E&S DU Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Aioi City, Hyogo Prefecture; President: Yusuke Sakimoto; hereinafter, "Mitsui E&S DU"), a group company of MITSUI E&S, has successfully completed the Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) of the "DU-WinGD 6X82DF-M-1.0 LP-SCR,” the first methanol dual-fuel WinGD large marine engine built in Japan.

This engine is also the first WinGD large marine engine manufactured at MITSUI E&S Tamano Works. The engine is scheduled to be installed on the first vessel in a series of four vessels being built for a domestic shipowner. By utilizing green methanol as fuel, it will contribute to a substantial reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from shipping operations.

To meet the expected increase in marine engine demand under the Japanese government's “Shipbuilding Industry Revitalization Roadmap, ” the MITSUI E&S Group is working to enhance production efficiency for large marine engines through integrated operation at MITSUI E&S Tamano and Mitsui E&S DU Aioi.
The production of this WinGD engine at Tamano Works was made possible by the longstanding and trusted relationship between the MITSUI E&S Group and the world-leading licensors Everllence and WinGD, together with Tamano Works' extensive next-generation fuel supply facilities and Japan's largest production capacity for large marine engines. This achievement represents an important milestone, demonstrating that the MITSUI E&S Group's marine engine manufacturing system has advanced to a new stage.

The MITSUI E&S Group will continue to provide optimal solutions that meet the diverse needs of its customers and contribute to the realization of a low-carbon and decarbonized society in the maritime logistics sector.
