Message from the President

Mitsui E&S DU (MESDU : Former Diesel United. Ltd.) aims to contribute and develop marine logistics and social infrastructure through its unique technologies and meticulous customer support cultivated over many years as a licensee engine builder.

MESDU has been a licensed Engine Builder for WinGD since 1948; the original agreement was signed between Harima Shipyard Co., Ltd. and Sulzer Brothers, Ltd., Switzerland. During the past 75 years, MESDU produced many world-first engine types. In 2015 MESDU installed a WinGD 6X72DF dual-fuel test engine. Carrying on the development cooperation agreement with WinGD, MESDU will continue to be a front runner for future technologies also after joining with Mitsui E&S Group since 1st of April.

Throughout long history of technical challenge, we have been constantly required to achieve highly efficient engine performance, and optimization of combustion by long strokes and electronic control has been promoted. In recent years, diversification of fuels has been promoted in the direction of decarbonization. In such a surrounding environment, our mission is to deliver highly reliable products and services to our customers while taking on the challenge of new technologies.

In order to ensure that diverse users can use our engines in the long life cycle with safety and satisfaction, we will further accelerate our support services, including digital diagnostic technology. We will provide products and services that are close to our customers, and pursue the technologies that support them.
