Neutrino is the only elementary particle without electron and can pass through the earth easily. This facility is to challenge the hottest theme of elementary particle physics of today, whether or not Neutrino has mass, as well as the start and the termination of the space.
Super-Kamiokande of Tokyo University and KamLAND of Tohoku University are the major Neutrino detectors in Japan, both of which construction MES is taking part of.
MES technology is utilized for other elementary particle facilities of the Japanese Government as well.
