FALCONs: Fouling Advanced Lifecycle Control Service
Reducing Fuel Consumption and CO2 Emissions Through Hull Fouling Control
FALCONs is a service that integrates the AI-powered "Quantitative Hull Fouling Evaluation" with "Propulsion Performance Analysis" using navigation and operation data. This allows for the understanding of resistance increase due to fouling and enables the identification of the optimal timing and parts of the ship for cleaning, as well as the quantification of reductions in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions resulting from the cleaning.
Main Features
- AI-powered "Fouling Evaluation" and "Cleaning Decision"
FALCONs utilizes AI to perform high-precision quantitative evaluations and progress predictions of hull fouling for cleaning decisions, which were previously based on intuition and experience. - "Propulsion Performance Analysis" Using Main Engine Operation and Navigation Data
"Propulsion Performance Analysis" is conducted using main engine data and navigation data, eliminating the effects of external disturbances such as sea waves and wind to estimate fuel efficiency. - Integrating "Fouling Evaluation" and "Propulsion Performance Analysis"
- By integrating "Fouling Evaluation" and "Propulsion Performance Analysis," we can predict and propose "when and what" to clean for optimal improvement based on actual data.
- It also allows for quantitative calculation of the fuel savings and CO2 reduction effects from cleaning.
Trial on an Actual Ship
In cooperation with a customer, we conducted a trial on a refrigerated cargo ship. Over 6 months, we successfully monitored the progression of hull fouling and the deterioration of fuel efficiency. We were also able to quantify a 7% improvement in fuel efficiency resulting from a subsequent propeller cleaning.
