Mitsui E&S Shipbuilding to build advanced version of "neo66BC", eco-friendly/low fuel consumption bulk carrier
Mitsui E&S Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (President: Tetsuro Koga) has developed advanced version of "neo66BC" with further improvement on energy efficiency performance, and has received an order of 2 units.
We have been building original version of "neo66BC", one of the "neo series" vessels which is a line-up of next generation eco-friendly ships. Keeping the superior usability of our 56BC, "neo66BC" has widened its width and more shallow drafted to achieve wider flexibility in operation and higher transport efficiency. Since the first order in 2011, we took total 21 orders of original version of "neo66BC" and delivered 19 units of them until today.
The new design is an advanced version of "neo66BC" applying latest model of main engine and newly designed energy saving device. At the same time, advanced version keeps the deadweight of 66,000 metric tons from the original version, despite complying with Harmonized Common Structural Rules (H-CSR) which makes the ship heavier.
In addition to the use of low sulphur fuel oil, SOx scrubber can be selected as an optional solution to comply with the regulation on sulphur oxide (SOx) contained in ship's exhaust gas.
This advanced version of "neo66BC" is the second "neo series" vessel which complies with IACS H-CSR, following our "neo87BC". We will continue to expand our product line-up of "neo series" complying with H-CSR.
Newly ordered 2 units of advanced version will be built in our Tamano Shipyard and are expected to be delivered from the second half 2020 onwards.
